Counsellors with:
a.. Insight into the variety of stress responses & an overview of
Post Traumatic Stress Symptoms.

management and recovery.

d.. Examples of case scenarios & some completed activities,
providing you with confidence to use the workbook to assist clients
recover from trauma.
e.. This approach can be used by any worker involved in the
management of a client's recovery. You don't need to be a fully
qualified therapist to use this approach to guide clients, as you can
hand them a workbook where they can read, understand and follow the
concepts and activities themselves.
The focus of this approach is to empower the clients with knowledge
and a structure to gradually rebuild, and work toward full recovery,
especially in circumstances where limited client contacts are
generally the only service offered.
WORKSHOP 2: Using a Directive Workbook as an Adjunct to Counselling &
Therapy
1 day
This ADVANCED WORKSHOP will provide Therapists and Counsellors with:
· A brief outline of the framework proven to facilitate trauma
symptom management and recovery.
a.. Discussion of Key Activities; whom is best suited to them,
common obstacles to successful completion & when to avoid some
activities.
b.. Exploration of Case scenarios & some completed activities (bring
your own completed activities too!).
c.. Supplementary Therapy methodologies that really move clients
through the process!
The focus of this workshop is to empower you to use the workbook
successfully to help move the client through the recovery process. Throughout the workbook there are encouraging guides that indicate
when it is a good time to enlist the support of a counsellor. The
workbook in no way reduces the need for a therapist, in fact it
reaffirms the reader of the need and benefit of a counsellor. Counsellors will find that clients whoare better informed about the
recovery process will want more from their counselling sessions and
get more out of their counselling relationship.
So many people think that having a talk should sort it all out and
often feel a bit better after having spoken with a counsellor, but
they don't understand the unconscious protective defences that
develop as a result of trauma. Often it is not until their family or
work relationships suffer, that they once again attend counselling or
worse still - don't and blame others or the counsellor for not fixing
it all up when they initially sought counselling. That's why my
workbook also aims to educate individuals recovering from trauma to
form realistic expectations of themselves and their loved ones
