In providing an EAP service, it is advisable
to conduct a training session of no less than one day, to give staff
knowledge and confidence to use the service. This would give an outline
of signs & symptoms of traumatic stress and what the critical
incident stress management program and debriefing is all about.
Training develops a culture that promotes
facilitates health recovery and team support. For more detail on
training subjects, see Current public course
program for Emotional First aid.
Background
Since 1996, we have been providing
counselling and support groups to people recovering from all kinds of
trauma. Formal debriefing has been conducted for groups of people
associated with eg: youthwork and suicided clients, ferry disaster and
fatal shark attack involving close friends. Groups of people include
workers, volunteers, and family groups.
Francess Day’s specialist expertise in
Critical Incident and Post Trauma Stress was developed from 1994 to
1997 whilst researching and writing a plain english book manuscript, in
consultation with the Head of Psychiatry at Royal Perth Hospital at
that time.
In July, 1997, they presented a paper about
the Community Based Support Groups at the European Traumatic Stress
Conference.
Debriefing training has been developed and
conducted for a wide range of Family & Children’s Services staff,
associated agency personnel and a wide variety of people attending the
public courses.

incidents & traumatic stress as described earlier. see information

General Stress Management workshops have
been designed and conducted for groups ranging from Westrail Special
Constables, ticket collectors through to Kalamunda community Hospital
staff, a group which included theatre nurses through to administration
and maintenance staff. This is very practical, and participants are
facilitated through identifying personal triggers, issues and
strategies. There are individual and group activities which facilitate
learning and problem solving.

incidents - see information on Public Course
Practical Conflict Resolution &
Mediation workshops train participants in a simple method of conflict
resolution whilst facilitating resolution of real issues that the group
may have.
The primary intention of the workshops may
also be to have the external mediator assist in conflict resolution of
an issue that is too volatile, sensitive or complicated for in-house
staff to facilitate the session.
IN-HOUSE WORKSHOPS WILL BE CUSTOMISED TO
THE NEEDS OF YOUR GROUP.

will advise you how we can address your needs!
