"Putting together the Pieces:
recovering & rebuilding life after trauma"

HERE IS A BOOK FOR:

People recovering from trauma and for Counsellors, Local Doctors & ALL OTHERS who meet recovering people to use to:

  • MAKE SENSE OF TRAUMA EFFECTS
  • FIND WORDS TO COMMUNICATE
  • and FACILITATE RECOVERY
Counsellor, Francess Day's clients have been able to:
  1. After reading the book, speak about atrocious situations they lived in fear of breathing a word about due to ongoing 'paybacks' - in the support group! She also worked with the trust issues that she has in every area of her life. At a later set of group sessions, she shared how since speaking about things in the groups, (without trying) she has been losing the weight that she has protected herself with for over 20 years
  2. Finally acknowledge and speak about the humiliation he felt after reading about it in the book. On several occasions prior, when the word 'humiliated' was reflected back to him in counselling, he just blanked. The same man is able to reflect on how his own harsh pushing of himself has impacted on others and many more issues.
  3. Realise how they have been disconnecting from family and friends and proceed to begin rebuilding links, amongst many other issues she is now actively addressing after reading.
  4. Sort out whether or not she is experiencing PTS finally. It has been virtually impossible to determine from the limited ability to express herself in the 3 sessions prior.
  5. Relate and gain hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel, even though her reactions to similar life threatening incidents, are only just beginning and life is still falling apart.
  6. Recognise and talk about her own limited affect, restricted ability to be demonstrative.

"Your book is fantastic. I am so impressed. The feedback so far from my clients has been that it has been extremely helpful. One has even photocopied parts and given it to family and friends to educate them as to how to support her following a recent assault. As I think my original copy might be more often on loan than not, I would like to buy a second copy for myself. I even wondered if I may hold a supply that I could make available to clients to buy".
