"Put Together Your Own Life:
Recover & Rebuild your life
after trauma"

In
2002, her first book was
released, where her ‘personal trauma recovery’ illustrates knowledge
based upon her 1994 research of post traumatic stress.
Many clients
have since reported how helpful
it is in identifying and sorting through their own issues, reactions
and patterns. It gives words to articulate the unspeakable. Some are
already using it to help their support network understand more of what
is happening for them. The effectiveness of this book has exceeded all
expectations.
Here is some feedback
for the first book.
Family Member’s letter:
I would like
to thank you for taking the courage to write this book and
express your own experiences in life. It certainly has given me an
insight to what feelings people that have experienced a traumatic time
in their lives are dealing with on a daily basis. But no matter how big
or small the trauma was there is hope on putting it back together. It
may take time, but it is worth the while in the long run.
After hearing about post-traumatic stress,
I wondered to myself if this is something that my sister may have been
going through. After reading your book on putting together the pieces,
something finally has made sense through all of this. I now have an
understanding on the thoughts and processes she is going through, but
most of all it touches on experiences the family may be going through.
The book totally describes my sister’s reactions to life to a T.
Its so on the ball!
Why write this book now?
The first book
was never intended as a
progressive directional working tool, and clients indicated some
frustration that there wasn’t room to write their own notes and story!
Both from counselling, facilitating support groups and noticing how
people tried to use the first book, it became clear that we needed more
direction and structure to guide the recovery process, whether or not
people choose to use a trauma recovery counsellor.
Colleagues also
mentioned that people
wanted a workbook.
"Put
together your own life will prove an
invaluable aid for survivors of all forms of trauma who courageously
choose to move beyond their pain and suffering in the quest to rebuild
their lives. Together with her previous book, Putting together the
Pieces: recovering and rebuilding life after trauma (2002), this
workbook is a logical extension to assisting trauma survivors. By
working through the various recovery strategies the workbook offers, it
has the potential to redirect survivors on to a new life path, a new
way of being".

Summary of this book:
I have
expanded a summary page from my
‘Emotional First Aid’ course, researched literature relating to stages
